Young Women Rock!: Starting in May 2014 and for the next two years, I was a volunteer at The Women Worldwide Initiative whose mission is to empower women and girls living in the poorest and most marginalized conditions to strengthen their agency and improve their well-being. Their all-girl mentorship program, Young Women Rock!, in the South Bronx and Brownsville, Brooklyn is a curriculum based, group, and one-on-one mentorship program for girls 14 to 18 years old. From May 2014 to May 2015, I was a mentor at the Brownsville location and from May 2015 to May 2016, I was the leading director of the program’s new location in the South Bronx. GrowNYC: In March of 2017, I was trained to be a NYCHA Environmental Ambassador. In my contribution to reduce waste and promote recycling, during the summer, my mom and I tabled outside the Williamsburg Houses three times and spoke to over 200 people about how to recycle and the effects of negligence to the environment. In June of 2017, with my mom and fellow Puerto Rican hermana, alongside GrowNYC, walked over 30 blocks collecting plastic and cans in the Puerto Rican Day Parade. I believe in using my time to further inspire communities through various lens such as mentorship, environmental justice and travel.

Here is some community development work I’ve done through volunteerism.
